What to Expect Now That You’re Expecting Pottermore

Jason June 24, 2011 Uncategorized No Comments

Ah yes. The Potter fandom is all in a frenzy once again. Just when doubters thought it was over and started letting their domain names expire and started to venture off to new fandoms, JK Rowling throws another curve. Yesterday was the big announcement that fans have been buzzing about for the past few days, Pottermore.

So what exactly is it?

According to the Official Site it’s:
“A free website that builds an exciting online experience around the reading of the Harry Potter books.
And to Come back on 31st July to find out how you can get the chance to enter Pottermore early.”

So the big question is What to Expect Now That You’re Expecting Pottermore?

Here’s the jist of it all. Pottermore will reignite the Harry Potter fandom. Old fans will have something new to talk about and join in on. There will be an upsurge of new fans to hit the web and shelves this October (meaning we’ll have to buy more bandwith along with any other Harry Potter fansites still around). And once again a new chapter in everyone’s lives will revolve around the creation of one women who took the world by storm almost thirteen years ago (damn! has it really been that long?).

Not clear enough for ya? Ok, fine here’s a chronological list of what’s to come

· Those old dedicated fans that have been barely hanging on by a thread will return in full force and voraciously await the next announcement or any tidbit of news pertaining to Pottermore

· July 31, 2011- A lucky 1 million fans will get early access to Pottermore. That is after agreeing to tons of legal terms and promising to keep their mouths shut about certain things.

· July 31, 2011- Several hours later that day some idiot will not abide by the legal terms and leak out information, images and the likes, and ruin it for the rest of us. And every newspaper, blog and news cast in the world will be putting these images and reports out, thus facing several lawsuits and spoiling the rest of us and generally ticking the Potter fandom off for not being respectful

· July -September – Those lucky enough will be able to post reports and give out teasers for Pottermore, mainly those fansites that have been lucky enough to be choosen. The rest of us will be hanging on our monitors like drooling monkeys impatiently awaiting any news they want to give us.

· October 2011 – Finally it’s here and billions of people attempt to log on to Pottermore causing the server to lag, crash and then go down for several days to prepare for the somewhat expected influx of people. That or they were expecting this and have a set number of visitors allowed into the site at one time and those that didn’t sit up all night counting down will have to wait impatiently for their chance to log in.

· November 18, 2011 – that Twilight movie will come out and draw attention elsewhere for a few days allowing for a few days free of lag or impatient waiting, but will give those Sparkles fans a swelled head and we’ll all be battling Trolls in the Dungeons (spammers & Twilight Fans who want to plug their sparkly vampiric love everywhere) (sorry, we’ve been converted from Twilight to True Blood, real Vamps don’t sparkle!).

· December 2011 – Christmas hits and you’ll get your new line of Harry Potter toys and merchandise, but also some new gadget will come out that you’ll play with and hope they have an app for Pottermore soon

· January 2012 – Those Geeky Freaks at other websites will start to push the Apocalypse down your throat and convince you that this December it’s bound to happen. So you spend as much time online with your Pottermore friends as you can, because lets face it, after all this time they are your only true friends, the rest have left you to rot and find other things to do than wait on you and your RPG

· February 2012 – Your parents or loved ones are starting to get suspicious that you may have a problem and attempt to intervene by engaging you in conversations and attempt to coerce you to the dinner table for meals

· March 2012 – They know you have a problem when they start to notice your wardrobe consist of Harry & the Potter T-shirts, Wizard Robes and you’ve decided that you’ll be spending every Holiday at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

· April 2012 -Your Family and Friends entertain your ideas and take you to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but find it was a bad idea when you refuse to leave and have to be escorted off the property by the Cops

· May 2012 -You become one of those poor people on A&E’s Intervention that refuses to admit you have a problem, and everyone sees your painful addiction on national television

· June 2012 – You finally get committed and never heard from again while millions of others play on Pottermore soon to suffer the same fate as you did.

It’s invevitable people! The only thing that will kill off the Harry Potter fandom is the Apocalypse…..
