Alice is back in an all new adventure to stop the evil corporation, Umbrella. She’s been captured and is being held for interrogation in the belly of the beast. The first ten minutes of the film is a rewind (literally) of what happened in the last film and a recap of the film’s series. After the little recap Alice wakes up and finds herself in domestic bliss.

This first real scene is the best the film has to offer, sad to say. It shows Alice in what might have been if the virus hasn’t nearly destroyed the world. This is short lived and the jump scares pursue. It gets back to the actual element of the Resident Evil franchise, a small midwestern town etc. etc. Other than that the film is the usual bang, pop, boom action film the rest of them have been. In other words a complete and utter disappointment. The film franchise has strayed so far away from the game series that they really should just take off the Resident Evil off the title and change the Umbrella Corporation to something else.

There is a little hope for the film though. It is action packed and has some great sequences. There are a few that leave you feeling a little let down, especially the licker scenes. Such opportunity to bank on their bad-assness and it was just not there. They did however introduce a little of the Resident Evil 4 aspects with the Las Plagas virus, but if you aren’t a long time fan you’ll miss the meaning of it. And did we mention Leon Kennedy is in there too. But again they didn’t capitalize on the potential of the introduction of this character.

Of all the changes of the characters and flatness of the plot major kudos goes out to Bingbing Li, who plays Ada Wong. She absolutely nailed the role. She brought the character straight from the game to the big screen with an amazing performance. Everything from the small mannerisms to the body motions of the character.

In all the film follows along with the rest and is a good action film. But die hard fans of the Resident Evil game series will again be disappointed. There are some areas where you are left going huh? as the story line doesn’t flow to smoothly in some areas and can get a little boring. Though as soon as you get bored they throw in an action sequence to get things rolling again. If you are just really bored and can’t think of another movie to go see then you could check this one out, during matinee hours. We would highly suggest waiting to see this one on DVD, rental at that. It’s just not good enough to fork over 8.50 to see in theaters and the 3D bit, is not worth it either.
