Ideas! We Have Some!

Written by Nik. Posted in Featured

After several discussions, meetings, arguments, and knock-down drag outs, we have an idea for our new site. Actually, there will be two of them. One will be fully featured while the other a uber secret squirrel project. More on that later.

We are working diligently to transfer files and content from this site for achieving. We will not be closing this site down for some time as there is ten+ years of content to back up. We will post updates here and on our Twitter Page as they happen.

Thank you for all your patience and continued support. We hope that what we roll out with next will be just as popular if not more for your enjoyment.

Something Wicked This Way Comes…

Written by Nik. Posted in Featured, News & Updates

Forgive our lack activity, we apologize. Hell, it’s been so long we couldn’t even remember our passwords to make this post. After several meetings and brainstorming sessions we have decided that this November we will be closing this site down. Wait! Wait! Wait! Don’t get upset, there is some good news. And we’ll explain in a minute.

This fall we will be working to open another site.

One that we can be passionate again. We don’t know about what yet, or when, but we have a few ideas that we want to work with. We are currently in the planning stages now.

What This Means: You will get the same great original content and humor as this site, but with new topics.

We have lost our interest in the Wizarding World. We just can’t create anymore articles and graphics anymore. We have grown up, moved on, and want to create a site that reflects this and our new found interests.
For those that have shown an interest in writing and working with us please be patient. We apologize for not answering emails, but those accounts have long since been left behind. Give us an opportunity to work out the new site and if you are still interested we will consider your work.

When will this all go down?:

We are not positive, but anticipating working on the basic setups in September. The kids will be in school, I will be graduating college, and we will all be more available to work on extra circulars then.

How Will You Know What’s Going On?

You can keep tabs on what we are up to through our Twitter Page. It will remain open long after this site is gone as many of our followers and visitors use this to keep in contact with us.

Fixing Things, Recruiting People…Muggle Business

Written by Nik. Posted in Featured, News & Updates

Yes, we know we have been inactive as hell, and have been promising a return. We apologize for the extended multitude of delays. Life continues to get in the way. But we are working on back-end problems to ensure that our visitors are safe when they visit and interact on this site.
Also, we have run into a bit of a snag with content. We would like to expand to other fandoms, but need some fresh blood ideas from some new writers and creators. If you have a love of any fandom and wish to contribute either on a regular basis, or just once in awhile, please see the post below.

We will be posting sporadically here and there with things that pop into our twisted little minds. To keep tabs on us, follow us on Twitter. Keep checking back to see what we are up to!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Final Girls by Mira Grant

Written by Nik. Posted in books, The Muggle Review

It’s short, sweet, and one hell of a good read! Once again, Mira Grant brings her unique style to the table, and does not disappoint. Final Girls is the latest work of Mira Grant, author of the NewsFlesh Trilogy and Parasitology Trilogy, in novella fashion. While the story is short and sweet, it packs a punch! This time she brings us into an all new “what could be” scenario that has become Mira’s playground and our possible future.

The story revolves around a young journalist who is sent to debunk another pseudoscience that takes phycological therapy to a whole new level. Imagine going to a therapist office to deal with whatever skeletons are in your closet, and being locked away in a full immersion virtual reality machine that helps you get over your demons, by fighting them in a horror movie setting! Yeah, screw the therapy, I just want to play in someone else’s nightmare. Here’s the official Book Synopsis:

What if you could fix the worst parts of yourself by confronting your worst fears?

Dr. Jennifer Webb has invented proprietary virtual reality technology that purports to heal psychological wounds by running clients through scenarios straight out of horror movies and nightmares. In a carefully controlled environment, with a medical cocktail running through their veins, sisters might develop a bond they’ve been missing their whole lives—while running from the bogeyman through a simulated forest. But…can real change come so easily?

Esther Hoffman doubts it. Esther has spent her entire journalism career debunking pseudoscience, after phony regression therapy ruined her father’s life. She’s determined to unearth the truth about Dr. Webb’s budding company. Dr. Webb’s willing to let her, of course, for reasons of her own. What better advertisement could she get than that of a convinced skeptic? But Esther’s not the only one curious about how this technology works. Enter real-world threats just as frightening as those created in the lab. Dr. Webb and Esther are at odds, but they may also be each other’s only hope of survival.

With her new novella Final Girls, bestselling, award-winning author Mira Grant has conjured a heart-stopping, gut-wrenching story filled with as many twists as it is versions of reality. Grant offers a chilling exploration of how surviving horrors might define us all.

The story is a great bit of fiction, that as usual with Mira’s style, some Brainiac Scientist is probably working on right now. Also, a quick read for those wanting something to tide them over in between releases of other books. The only the bummer about Final Girls is the price. If you enjoy being able to read off your phone or a Kindle, the price is just right, $4.99. But for me, I love the smell of newly printed books, and being able to physically turn a page. So the $31 price tag for a one hundred twelve page novella hit a little hard. My fault, but still a bit much. But in all, well worth it!
